Selina's wedding invitation raises NT$222,300 for charity
Taipei, Oct. 11 (CNA) The fiance of Taiwanese singer Selina, a member of the pop band S.H.E., personally handed the final bidder their wedding invitation Tuesday, which helped raise NT$222,300 (US$7,313) for a local burns charity. Although the singer and actress did not attend a press conference in Taipei to announce the winning bidder, she expressed her gratitude by signing the invitation and promised to thank the bidder in person at the wedding scheduled for Oct. 31, also her 30th birthday. The 29-year-old bidder, who gave her name only as "Vivi," said she was very happy and excited to find out she had won the bid. "It's totally worth it," she said. Selina's life has been in the spotlight since she sustained severe burns during a TV shoot in Shanghai a year ago. The entertainer has undergone three skin grafts. The wedding invitation was among a variety of items provided by a total of 22 celebrities. It was part of an online fundraising auction held by the Taipei-based Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation. Total sales reached over NT$400,000. Selina became a household name in Chinese-speaking communities worldwide in 2001 when the girl band S.H.E. shot to fame with their first album "Girls Dorm," which sold over 750,000 copies in Asia.
